Today I watched a Webinar led by Shelly Terrell about ‘Global Projects for Young Learners.’
Here are the excellent Wiki Resources that accompanied this presentation.
This wiki answers many of the questions which teachers aiming to begin a global project may want to ask, such as . . .
- where to find classes to connect
- information about internet safety (even internet user policy and parent forms)
- ways to connect with the world
- some examples of projects
- tutorials, resources, examples and lesson ideas
The wiki not only shows you where to start, but has links to using many suitable Web 2.0 tools – Skype, Blogs, Wikis, Voicethreads, Audacity and Garageband, Glogsters, Twitter etc.
A number of Global Projects are listed on this wiki.

ePals - The topics are standards based and of global interest. Each project is designed to be used as is, or customised to your classroom’s needs.
At the ePals global community blog, you are sure to find a project that interests you. For example, I liked this one.
Choose a Project. Find a Classroom. Collaborate!
‘The Way We Are’ Classroom Project

Overview: What makes us who we are? In this introductory project, students will engage in a collaborative learning experience. Through email exchanges, students will build friendships and learn about the daily lives and characteristics of the local environment of students who live in another region of the world.
Our big question for the Australian Identity Inquiry unit for Term 1 is ‘What does it mean to be Australian?’
I wonder which project would be the most suitable to share the answers to this question with the world . . . ?
